The role
More than nine in ten Ghanaian businesses operate informally, and most have never advertised a vacancy anywhere. You go to the workshops, salons, shops and small enterprises that no employment platform has ever approached.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit small and informal businesses in markets, workshop clusters and high streets within your area.
- Explain the platform in plain language and in the local language, without assuming the owner uses a computer.
- Complete the registration and the first vacancy posting on the owner’s own telephone, with them, before leaving.
- Hand over the printed Employer HR Toolkit summary and explain what is in it.
- Report weekly on what these businesses say they need, because that is information nobody else in this market has.
- Deliver twenty five registered small businesses each month, of which at least fifteen post a vacancy.
Requirements
- A completed degree or HND and completion of national service.
- Strong spoken ability in at least one Ghanaian language used in your area.
- Patient with people who are not comfortable with technology.
- Respectful with traders and artisans. This role fails immediately if the person is condescending.
- Willing to work in markets and workshop areas rather than offices.
Benefits
• Transport and data allowance on top of salary. • You will learn how the informal economy actually works, which is knowledge very few graduates in this country hold. • Social security contributions under Act 766 from your first month. • A written reference describing the sectors and communities you opened. • Growth pathway. This role leads to Informal Sector Lead, and to District Coordinator on a permanent contract as we extend into all two hundred and sixty one districts.
