Fishing feeds this coast and employs it. Boat owners, processors, fish smokers, cold stores, net makers and transporters take on hands every season, and the entire trade runs on word passed along the beach. Where you will work Elmina Fishing Harbour, Cape Coast landing beach, Moree, Anomabo, Biriwa, and the cold stores and smoking sites along the coast. What you will do • Visit landing beaches, processors, cold stores, smoking sites and transport operators. • Register businesses and post their work, including daily and seasonal roles. • Work with canoe owners associations and fishmongers groups to register members together. What you deliver each week • At least 10 businesses registered weekly. • At least 5 posting a live vacancy. • A weekly note on the fishing season and labour demand. Who this suits Graduates in fisheries and aquatic sciences, food science, marine science, agribusiness or integrated development studies, from UCC and the technical universities. Fluent Fante is essential. What you will gain • Paid work in the coastal economy you studied, with the people inside it. • Standing with the associations that organise the trade. • A route into the Trade Sales Officer role. Terms • GHS 1130 weekly, plus GHS 50 for every business that posts a vacancy. • Paid weekly, every Friday, by mobile money. Transport reimbursed against receipts. • 4 weeks, renewable up to 12 weeks on performance. • Open to graduates of any institution and any discipline, and to anyone aged 18 and above with the skill this gig calls for. • A valid Ghana Card is required for payment.
